Shortening of the Day

On Monday, the 14th of May, temperatures plummeted to 0.3 degrees Celsius in Sarajevo, Bosnia, coating the city with an icy layer of snow in the midst of a balmy Spring, the first time in half a century that snow has settled during this time of year. Many farmers are marveling over this year’s early Springtide as the buds seem to be blooming two weeks earlier than usual. Theresa High of High Country Orchards said she has “never seen the blossoms as full as they are this year.” Europe has just had the warmest and driest Autumn in nearly 150 years, the Arctic ice is almost at its lowest recorded extent in history, and South Australia has just been hit by the hottest start to the year in a century. By all of this unusual weather, it would seem that each season is occurring slightly earlier than its usual time, giving the illusion that time itself is speeding up, or is it an illusion?

A curious passage in the Bible jumps out at me in a light that I had never seen it in before. In Matthew 24:21-22, it says, “For then there will be great distress, unequaled from the beginning of the world until now—and never to be equaled again. If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened.” I always gathered that this was referring to the fact that if God simply let things go on the way they are without interrupting it with His judgment, then mankind would naturally bring about its own destruction, but I’m beginning to wonder if by “if those days had not been cut short” and “those days will be shortened”, he also means to literally shorten the length of a day. It makes you wonder if all of our collective prayers for Jesus to come rescue us are being answered in such a way that God is actually hastening the remaining days to speed things up without diverting from His predestined plan. It’s at this time that you’re probably wondering how this is even possible. Well, let’s see what the Bible says. In Revelation 8:12, after the seventh seal has been opened and the seven angels have begun to blow their calamity-loaded trumpets of judgment, it says, “The fourth angel sounded his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them turned dark. A third of the day was without light, and also a third of the night.” As odd and cryptic as this sounds, we know that, since the moon reflects the light of the sun, it cannot be reduced in brightness unless the sun was reduced first. However, if the sun were taken down by even 1/100th of its light, let alone 1/3rd, we’d all freeze to death in an instant. It also mentions that the stars will be darkened by a third along with the sun and moon, but the stars do not rely on the sun’s light like the moon does. So, the real riddle is, how can all three of these elements be simultaneously reduced and darkened by a third?

To unlock this riddle, we must first look back at Luke 21:25-26, which says that in the last days “there will be signs in the sun, moon and stars” and “people will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken.” Verse 11 also declares that there will be, “fearful events and great signs from heaven.” We’re already beginning to see these cosmic signs begin to happen, with things like the asteroid YU55 and 2011 MD, which missed earth by a hair, and Comet Elenin, which aligned with the planets on the High Holy Days of the Jewish Fall Feasts last year. Recently, we also saw Yom Kippur marked with the Draconid meteor shower, as well as Second Passover, which was marked with a meteor shower along with a supermoon. Besides a continuation of what NASA experts are calling “the largest outbreak of solar activity in recent history”, we can look forward to a rare annular eclipse coinciding with a vastly more rare alignment between Earth, the Moon, the Sun, and the Pleiades on May 20th of this year, and then the seventh Transit of Venus to ever occur in history will happen just 16 days later on the 6th of June. And of course, it all tops off with an alignment with the center of the Milky Way galaxy during the Winter Solstice of December 21st. I think it’s fair to say that we’re seeing the “great signs from heaven”, but what about the “fearful events”? The passage in Revelation 8:12 seems to indicate that the trumpet of the fourth angel will be darkening the sun, moon, and stars at the same time, which would seem impossible, unless the actual rotation of the earth was sped up. It says, “A third of the day was without light, and also a third of the night”, revealing that the sun, moon, and stars are not the things that are going to be reduced in brightness, but rather our perspective of them as observing the night and day sky. Take a way “a third of the day” and “a third of the night” and that leaves us with a 16-hour day, 8 hours of light and 8 hours of night, which means that the earth’s rotation has significantly sped up, giving the illusion that the sun, moon, and stars have all lost a third of the time that they illuminate our sky as they appear to sweep across the celestial sphere at an increased velocity.

I first suspected this to be the case after reminiscing on 2010 and 2011’s earthquakes in Chile and Japan. The apocalyptic Chilean earthquake registered a staggering 8.8 on the Richter scale and was said to have thrown the earth off its axis by redistributing the rocky mass of the earth towards its surface, globally shortening the length of the day by 1.26 microseconds, which is virtually unnoticeable, but as Physics Professor Michio Kaku says, “it’s a very tiny effect, but it builds up over time.” The earthquake that hit just off the coast of Japan in March of last year also reached a magnitude of 8.9 and likewise shifted the earth’s axis even further, this time moving the entire island of Japan by 8 feet, which gives us a frightening glimpse of how Revelation 6:14 might be fulfilled when it says, “every mountain and island was removed from its place.” These were two of the top 10 greatest earthquakes on record and they both hit within the last 29 months to show us how easily God can change the rotation of our planet and adjust the length of our day. And, as we read in Revelation 6:12, this major earthquake that is supposed reek chaos over the entire world chronologically occurs before the fourth angel sounds his trumpet and shortens the length of our day, which is why I believe that this prophesied mega-quake is likely to be one of the main causes for the earth’s sudden increase in axial rotation. In Isaiah 24:1, it says, “the Lord maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down…” Could this “upside down” turning of the earth be alluding to a geomagnetic reversal in the earth’s poles, otherwise known simply as a “pole shift”, something Einstein largely theorized about in his day? If so, this would certainly cause a simultaneous flux of natural disasters and a reconstruction of the current day/night cycles.

In 2001, the SOHO heliospheric camera caught a glimpse of the biggest solar flare on record, an X20-class, which was quickly outmatched in 2003 by an even bigger X45, said to be “the largest solar flare ever recorded” by Space Ref. Last year, National Geographic’s headlines read, “Solar Flare Sparks Biggest Eruption Ever Seen on Sun”. And now, in 2012, after having seen an unusual increase in X-class solar flares, a massive sunspot has appeared on the sun and is aimed directly at the earth. NASA’s Solar Dynamic Observatory shows that it is prime for eruption, like a gun loaded with record-breaking radiation storms getting ready to discharge devastating flares that could shut down power worldwide in what Discovery News calls its “solar maximum”, which is expected in the year 2013. What many people don’t realize is that these solar flares are the only things that can effect the electromagnetic fields of both the earth and the other planets in our solar system, again, causing our axial rotation to change and shorten the length of our day from 24 hours to potentially 16.

The sun isn’t the only thing that’s been making a fuss. On December 21st, 2010, there was a rare type of lunar eclipse that hadn’t occurred in 420 years, and ever since, the moon appeared to have fallen out of its place. In fact, sky watchers have measured it to be precisely 135 degrees off kilter and it was approximately two days off of its proper seasonal phase. In the early dawn, the Inuit people up North have approximately one hour of daylight to go out and hunt, but in recent years, they have noticed that this time frame has extended to two hours. Being close watchers of the sky, many of them have noticed an obvious change in the lunar and solar cycles. Elijah Nowdlak, an Inuit elder, says, “the earth has changed its tilt.” Samuel Ammaq also adds, “At night, returning from a hunt using the stars, it’s noticeable that they are no longer in their proper positions.” Many scientists will blame these changes on simple natural phenomena with no regard for what the sacred scripture says, but Colossians 1:16-17 clearly tells us that it is Jesus Himself who holds together the forces of nature, saying, “all things have been created through him and for him. He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.” So, to see such disruption in the natural order of the cosmos is a significant indication that all of creation is heralding in the return of its creator. But, before that happens, we can expect God to shorten the length of our day. For what reason? Matthew 24:21-22 simply states, “If those days had not been cut short, no one would survive, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened.

To finish off, I recommend you read this passage from the Book of Enoch, which seems to be talking about just about everything I’ve mentioned in this article. It’s chilling to see the accuracy of this millennia-old prophecy from a man who was said to have walked with God in Genesis 5:24. Enoch was so beloved that God prematurely “took” him from the world.

Chapter LXXX. 2-8

“And in the days of the sinners the years shall be shortened, and their seed shall be tardy on their lands and fields, and all things on the earth shall alter, and shall not appear in their time: And the rain shall be kept back, and the heaven shall withhold it.

And in those times the fruits of the earth shall be backward, and shall not grow in their time, and the fruits of the trees shall be withheld in their time.

And the moon shall alter her order, and not appear at her time.

And in those days the sun shall be seen and he shall journey in the evening on the extremity of the great chariot in the west and shall shine more brightly than accords with the order of light.

And many chiefs of the stars shall transgress the order. And these shall alter their orbits and tasks, and not appear at the seasons prescribed to them.

And the whole order of the stars shall be concealed from the sinners, and the thoughts of those on the earth shall err concerning them, and they shall be altered from all their ways, yea, they shall err and take them to be gods.

And evil shall be multiplied upon them, and punishment shall come upon them so as to destroy all.

May the Holy Spirit lead you to all truth about our Lord and saviour Yeshua HaMashiach and keep you always in faith and fortitude until the appointed time comes.
